The broken window style highly contested logo for the London Olympics appears to have a promising future.
Despite its mocking, criticism and even online petitions for its removal, the logo design received a strong einforcement from Jacques Roggue the president of IOC at its debut in front of the fulll IOC committee.
"I just want to highlight the fact that a month ago you showed me the logo... I loved it. I approved it and I am now very proud to wear it", Rogue told London organizing chief Sebastian Coe.
Unveiled in London a month ago, the logo for the 2012 London Olympics, with its four jagged pieces (that actually form the numbers 2012), associated by some with a nazi swastica or a broken window has managed to rise the indignation of an entire nation.
Coe spoke with the delegates from a self secure position. "We knew our brand would be challenged... We knew it would spark debate... I bet you can't wait for our mascot," he said.
"... fantastic, creative, dynamic, young, flexible" are the words of Denis Oswald, the head of the IOC coordination commission for the London Games, regarding the logo.
Oswald's oly concerns referr to the dificult relationship with the british media.
Coe has also received reassurance from the new British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who expressed his government's full suport for the London Games.
