Starting to play with Adobe Photo Shop and Adobe Illustrator four years ago, allowed Evan Flores, 17, to make history.
He learned by himself the secrets of computer design, working on the computer about six hours a day. Today his graphic design work takes him only two or three hours per day.
Flores took his chances at a the logo contest "Children come first", creating a simple, basic logo, symbolizing knowledge (education) by incorporating an apple in the design.
Linda Cunningham, a Roosevelt graphic design teacher helped Flores during his four weeks work for the logo contest.
Among 127 competitors from elementary school to high school level Students, Evan Flores stood up with his brilliant work, his logo being chosen from a total of 14 finalists.
His succes surprised even his mother. "I didn't even know he had submitted something, he didn't tell me... he is very humble and doesn't like to draw attention to himself when he does things... - I was very proud of him."
About himself, Flores said: "I have always been on the creative side. In high school I discovered my strong point was graphics design... I find computer graphics fun and enjoyable for me in and out of school because I'm able to create something with my own individuality in the creation."
Flores' winner logo appeard officialy in public last month on the county school's Web site. Further more the logo will appear on various publications and annual reports.
